Where to start on your property

Fence, roof, shed and garage removal, plus testing, assessment and disposal, arranged through licensed, WorkSafe WA approved removalists across Mandurah and Peel.

Why fibro fences lead this site

Fibro and Super Six fencing is a common reason people in Mandurah start an asbestos enquiry. Cement sheet fences installed before 1990 may contain asbestos, and sun, salt air and knocks can crack them over time.

That is why this site starts with Super Six and fibro fence removal. Next come asbestos roof removal and shed, garage and carport removal, which often belong to the same backyard project. Every job still needs a licensed removalist once it passes the legal threshold.

Not sure a sheet is asbestos? Our Super Six fencing guide explains how to recognise the profile, and laboratory testing settles it for certain.

Where prices land on the common jobs

These are guide bands only. Every job is priced after an on-site look, because access, height and the amount of sheeting change the figure.

JobTypical band
Short run of fibro fencefrom around $1,200
Standard Super Six boundary fence$2,000–$3,500
Roof removal, small areafrom around $3,000
Full house roof$3,000–$12,000+
Asbestos testing, one samplefrom around $250

What the rules say in Western Australia

In Western Australia a Class A licence covers every type of asbestos, friable material included, while a Class B licence covers non-friable (bonded) material only. Bonded work over 10 m² needs a licensed removalist. The current rules sit on the WorkSafe WA asbestos licences page.

Householders may remove up to 10 m² of non-friable asbestos under the household exemption. That is a legal threshold, not a recommendation to do it yourself, and it never applies to friable material. The 10 m² counts the whole project, so a job cannot be split into smaller pieces to stay under it.

Class A work also needs an independent licensed assessor to carry out air monitoring and the clearance inspection. Read WorkSafe WA guidance on asbestos removal and disposal before you commit to any plan.

Housing age and asbestos: WA Government guidance

WA Government guidance on asbestos in homes

  • WA Government guidance: homes built before the mid-1980s are highly likely to contain asbestos products; homes built from the mid-1980s to 1990 are likely to
  • Asbestos cannot be identified reliably by appearance alone — testing is the only way to know

Local case: burnt-out asbestos shed in Falcon

In May 2026, a Falcon homeowner was reported fined $8,500 after failing to clean up a burnt-out asbestos shed that contaminated neighbouring properties.

Frequently Asked Questions

A standard boundary fence usually costs $2,000–$3,500 to remove, and a short run can start from around $1,200. Length, height, access and the number of corners all move the price, and each job is quoted after an on-site look.

Householders may remove up to 10 m² of non-friable asbestos under the household exemption, but that is a legal limit rather than advice to do it yourself. The 10 m² covers the whole project and cannot be split up, and anything larger needs a licensed removalist.

Fibro and Super Six fencing is normally non-friable, so a Class B licence covers it when the area is over 10 m². A Class A licence covers every type of asbestos, including friable material.

Homes built before 1990 may contain asbestos in fencing, roofing, eaves and wall linings. The only certain answer comes from laboratory analysis of a sample taken by a qualified person, so avoid drilling, sanding or breaking suspect sheets in the meantime.
