What a fence removal costs
Pricing is built from fence length, height and access. For a quick estimate, assume roughly $55–$100 per linear metre, or $60–$110 per panel, for bonded cement fencing.
| Fence | Typical band |
|---|---|
| Short run | from around $1,200 |
| Standard boundary fence | $2,000–$3,500 |
| Per linear metre | $55–$100 |
| Per panel | $60–$110 |
Factors that change the price
- Total length and height.
- Side gate or tight garden access.
- Broken panels and debris along the base.
- Concrete footings and capping.
- Whether a replacement fence is added.
Shared fences
On a shared boundary, neighbours often split the bill. The Dividing Fences Act sets out how, so talk to your neighbour before booking and agree who pays for removal and replacement.
Safety and regulations that affect price
In Western Australia a Class A licence covers every type of asbestos, friable material included, while a Class B licence covers non-friable (bonded) material only. Bonded work over 10 m² needs a licensed removalist. The current rules sit on the WorkSafe WA asbestos licences page.
Householders may remove up to 10 m² of non-friable asbestos under the household exemption. That is a legal threshold, not a recommendation to do it yourself, and it never applies to friable material. The 10 m² counts the whole project, so a job cannot be split into smaller pieces to stay under it.
Class A work also needs an independent licensed assessor to carry out air monitoring and the clearance inspection. Read WorkSafe WA guidance on asbestos removal and disposal before you commit to any plan.
A licensed removalist adds the controls the law requires, which is why a legitimate quote costs more than an unlicensed one. Check the licence class on the WorkSafe WA asbestos licences page.
